Like alot of students, I've worked more than a couple part time jobs along the way. Bartending at a restaurant in Houston has been my livest task so far.
I started working at Soto's Cantina as a busser and gradually made my way into the bar. I had no experience but the owners assured me that I'd be mixing mojito's in no time. As a bar-back, I carefully studied how each bartender crafted their drinks. When the time came for me to succeed a departing co-worker, I felt ready.
I quickly learned that it wasn't about being the fastest, it was about being pre-paired. If there wasn't enough limes cut or beers in the fridge, I was going to have a rough night.
Although there were some chaotic moments, I'm glad for the experience. It was alot of fun.
